Once known as the “Garden of Corsica”, the Balagne region boasts fig trees, olive groves, orchards and palm-fringed beaches. On our self-guided trip, you will ride this northern strip of Corsica from Calvi to Ile Rousse, up into the hills and along the coast. You will discover the stunning countryside, picturesque villages and incredibly diverse landscape the region has to offer.

The week begins riding along what’s said to be one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe. After a day of exploring you’ll head back to your hotel in Calvi, giving you enough time to check out the nightlife and restaurant scene.

From Calvi to Ile Rousse
Say goodbye to Calvi as we cross the Balagne on balcony roads to reach Ile Rousse and its fabulous crystalline beaches. As you make your way, be sure to snap some pics of the turquoise water and red granite below. You’ll spend the next 4 nights in Ile Rousse, giving you ample time to explore the area. Highlights include the old town, with its paved streets and brick houses, as well as its covered market and lighthouse with fabulous views across the town.

Up to the villages
From village to village, your route is a panorama of fabulous scenery. Ride back inland to the Lake Codole, an impressive water reservoir.

Head for the hills
The Corsican mainland awaits you, with its breathtaking mountain landscapes. As you ride through the tiny village of Olmi Capella be sure to stop by Maison Casanova, the best biscuit shop in the region and snag yourself some authentic canistrelli, cucciole and croquets. Once full on cookies, you’ll have an easy descent from the Col de Battaglia back to the sea.
