Our cycling tips in and around Aix en Provence

Where we love to ride, grab a coffee or have a glass of wine

Why has Carpentras become such a popular cycling destination ?

This is an easy one to answer. It’s all about Mont Ventoux, which is almost synonymous with one of the greatest cycling climbs in the world.

Carpentras only 15 km from Bedoin which is at the base of the Giant of Provence. You can ascend Mont Ventoux from three different sides but the route that starts from Bedoin is considered the classic and toughest way up.

The numbers speak for themselves: 21.3 km, 1579 vertical ascent at an average gradient of 7.4%.

However, Carpentras also has plenty to offer in terms of more leisurely rides.  For example you can ride along its canal, which winds through the Comtat Venaissin plain and adds to  the beautiful landscapes.

You will have the stunning backdrops of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range as you ride.

You can also ride along orchards and stop at one of the many wineries for a tasting.
